The Pulsar Helion XP50 Thermal Monocular is designed for use both in the night-time and during the day in adverse weather conditions (fog, smog, rain) to see through obstacles hindering detection of targets (branches, tallgrass, thick bushes etc.). Unlike the image intensifier tube based night vision device, HELION thermal imaging scopes do not require an external source of light and are not affected by bright light exposure. The Pulsar Helion XP50 Thermal Monocular features a build-in video recorder, protection against water exposure during short-term submersion, a digital zoom and is frost-resistant.

An XP model will have less visible pixilation at the equivalent magnification to an XQ. This is why it offers 8x digital zoom and the XQ only offers 4x.

The XP series are lower mag as well as wider FOV than the XQ due to the larger sensor resolution.

Whilst the detection ranges are the same on XQ and XP, the identification range will be higher with the XP due to the sharper image.
